As you might have guessed, a 400-megapixel image is significantly larger than one of its 100-megapixel counterparts, with the former taking up to 200 megabytes when compressed into a JPEG file. The denser image is also heavier and takes longer to process in Photoshop and other image editing applications.
Obviously, no hobbyist needs a camera that can take 400-megapixel images, and most professionals don’t either. But as Fujifilm points out, this feature makes a lot of sense for cultural preservation work where these images can help archivists and restorers get their work done.
