GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. (CNN) – A Georgian man is accused of defrauding a chain of grocery stores over nearly a million dollars.

Gwinnett County Police detectives arrested Tre Brown and charged him with theft.

They say Brown scammed a Duluth Kroger out of over $ 980,000.

Police say he has put more than 40 returns of non-existent items on multiple credit cards.

The cost of returns ranged from $ 75 to over $ 87,000, according to police.

He then allegedly used the money to buy items, including two vehicles, guns and clothing.

Kroger’s head office noticed the transactions and contacted the police.

Online prison records show he was released on bail.
