Gabby Petito: Police declare ‘crime scene’ as FBI enters Brian Laundrie’s Florida home: LIVE UPDATES

Steven Bertolino, attorney for Gabby Petito’s fiancé Brian Laundrie, told Fox News’ Stephanie Pagones on Monday that he had “no comment” regarding the current situation unfolding at Laundrie’s home in North Port, Florida.

In the last hour, FBI agents attended the scene before removing Chris and Roberta Laundrie – her parents – from the property, placing them in an unmarked van.

Brian Laundrie, their son, is a person of interest in Gabby Petito’s investigation.

Its current whereabouts remain unknown.

The FBI, in a tweet, said it is “today executing a court-authorized search warrant at Laundrie’s residence in North Port, Fla. Regarding the Gabrielle ‘Gabby’ Petito investigation.”

“No further details can be provided as this is an active and ongoing investigation,” the FBI added.

The FBI stayed at the laundromat home for about 10 minutes before officers began bringing folding chairs, a table and other items into the house.

The FBI issued a “search warrant” twice before removing Chris and Roberta Laundrie from their home in North Port, Florida, and placing them in a van on their lawn.

Police cordoned off the area and cleared the street a minute before the FBI arrived, telling people “you are at a crime scene.”

Jen Bethune reacted to the news that investigators found a body that matches that of the 22-year-old, saying it was heartwarming that she could at least help end the Petito family despite the devastating discovery.

“I’m so sad we couldn’t bring her back alive, but being able to bring her home to her family or help her is all,” Bethune told host Ainsley Earhardt.

The North Port Police Department told Fox News on Monday it “does not currently plan to conduct a major search on the Carlton Reservation today” – the place in Florida where authorities were looking for Brian Laundrie this week. -end.

TJ Schmidt wrote in an Instagram post that “I don’t even know what to say” following the discovery of a body in Wyoming on Sunday that is believed to be his sister.

“I am totally lost. My heart is broken #justiceforgabby, ”he added.

Petito’s uncle, Mike Schmidt, said in a Facebook post that he “has no words at the moment because I’m numb.”

“Our Gabby was a beautiful, kind and caring young lady with so much going on in front of her. We are heartbroken,” he also said.

The North Port Police Department announced on Twitter on Sunday that a team of more than 50 people had searched a nearby reservation for clues to the disappearance of Brian Laundrie, who has been named a person of interest in the investigating Gabby Petito.

Police said Laundrie’s parents directed them to the Carlton reservation, after saying he had visited the scene. Sunday’s search ended and police reported that there was nothing new to report.

The search for Laundrie is expected to intensify after authorities in Wyoming announced the discovery of a body that appeared to be Petito.

An autopsy will need to be performed to determine 100%. Her father took to Twitter shortly after the discovery and posted a heartbroken emoji and wrote, “She’s touched the world. The post was accompanied by a photo of his smiling daughter and in front of oversized angel wings. North Port Police said they would continue to work with their partners in their search for “more answers.”

An autopsy of the body believed to be Gabby Petito’s is scheduled for Tuesday, according to the Teton County Coroner’s Office.

The body was discovered at Grand Teton National Park on Sunday, with the FBI saying the body matched Petito’s description.

The investigation is still ongoing and the body has not been 100% identified.

YouTube bloggers say they spotted Gabby Petito’s converted white van near Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming, two days after the missing woman’s family said they last heard from her.

“We came across a white pickup truck that had Florida license plates,” blogger Jenn Bethune said in a video posted to YouTube. “A little white van. We were going to pull over and say hello because we are also from Florida, but the van was completely dark. There was no one there, so we decided to continue on our way.”

The statement comes as authorities have located a body believed to be that of Petito Sunday.

The investigation is still ongoing and the cause of death has not yet been determined.
