Samsung isn’t new to the true wireless earbuds game, but I haven’t stuck with any of the company’s releases so far. Each seemed to have a glaring flaw. In other words, until I tried the Galaxy Buds Pro. Over the past week, I’ve been impressed with Samsung’s premium offering. Here are some things to remember before our full review.
The Galaxy Buds Pro are releasing today for $ 199, a steep price tag compared to Samsung’s otherwise fairly affordable lineup. Considering the hefty price tag and limited time we actually got to spend with these heads, our full review will take place next week, but we have three key points to cover if you’re planning on doing it. get these today.
An almost perfect case
True wireless headphones have a lot of priorities to deal with, but cases are high on my list. Fortunately, Buds Pro got it right. The case has the same shape as the one delivered with Galaxy Beans Buds Live, but it’s actually slightly thinner and smaller in its footprint. The Buds Live case was already one of my favorites, so shrinking it just gives Samsung more points in my book.
The case also has a nice matte finish that doesn’t constantly collect fingerprints and oils, but still slides out of your pocket with ease. The lid also closes with a super satisfying “thump”, thanks to strong magnets. Click on the video below to listen to it.
Much better ANC
Samsung’s Galaxy Buds Live definitely have a place, but the Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) on this product was an absolute joke. It didn’t do anything. Fortunately, Buds Pro couldn’t be more different.
Thanks to the oval shaped eartips, I’ve found that the Galaxy Buds Pro already have a pretty good seal in my ear and passively block out a lot of noise, but when the ANC is on it’s very effective. It’s not perfect, I can certainly still hear noises going by, but almost all background noise disappears quickly. Samsung has done a very good job here.
Sound quality is improved
Finally, let’s talk about the sound quality. So far, I have only used the Buds Pro when connected to my Galaxy Z Fold 2, where Samsung headphones generally sound better. Having said that, the sound quality is excellent. Unlike the Buds + and Buds Live, I didn’t need to switch to the “dynamic” EQ profile just to get decent sound quality. Now each preset sounds really good to my ears with a pretty surprising amount of bass. I wasn’t sure if Samsung’s “2-way speaker” setup was actually going to make a difference, but it does seem to do. I was very impressed with the sound quality with the Buds Pro even competing with the Jabra Elite 85ts which were so far ahead of everything else in my rotation.
