For a high end smartphone … a family that is probably still months away from an official announcement, not to mention a commercial outlet, we already seem to have plenty of inside information on the Galaxy Note 10. Of course, it is far too early to know if Samsung has discarded the "radical" design that was supposed to have absolutely no physical button or no headphone jack.
But it is increasingly likely that the flagship range of the next generation of the company will be composed of several variants. According to a number of generally reliable sources, at least four Note 10 models are being prepared. Two members of this large family have just appeared in the Geekbench database, displaying their excessive speed of navigation while revealing some key specifications.
Up to 12 GB of RAM and 5G connectivity (optional)
There are four known model numbers associated with the imminent Galaxy Note 10, and if the SamMobile information is correct (which is usually the case), the SM-N971 and SM-N976 tags are supposed to refer to the "standard" taps enabled. by 5G. SM-N970 and SM-N975. In case you're wondering, note 9 has the model number SM-N960. It is therefore perfectly logical that his suite be known under the abovementioned aliases.
This means that the SM-N976 is probably the most powerful configuration of all Note 10 under construction, so it's not surprising to see a sub-variant compared with a huge memory of 12GB of memory under its hood. The SM-N976V will almost certainly come out on Verizon (hence the V in its model number), with the same Snapdragon 855 processor as the Galaxy S10 5G.
Of course, the Galaxy S10 5G comes with "only" 8 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of internal storage space in the colors "Majestic Black" and "Crown Silver". In the meantime, if the Galaxy Note 10 5G actually goes to 12GB of RAM, there is a good chance that it also offers a digital storage room of several terabytes. SamMobile thinks that this absolute beast could also rock in a ceramic finish, although for now, this is only an enlightened guess. Again, it should be noted that a variant of the Galaxy S10 + non-5G is currently available in white ceramic and black ceramic versions with a storage capacity of up to 1 TB and 12 GB of memory.
It is interesting to note that the "international" version of the Galaxy Note 10 5G, a SM-N976B, associates an Exynos 9825 SoC with 8 GB of RAM, at least according to another recent Geekbench file, intended for Australia and Australia. other markets, probably in a non-ceramic design. Note that this Exynos chipset is not yet a thing, it is expected to be revising the 9820 8nm architecture in the same 7nm manufacturing process used by Snapdragon 855 from Qualcomm.
The best multi-core performance in its class … by a whisker
No, synthetic benchmarks are not always representative of the actual capabilities of a handset. Geekbench's scores can be incredibly misleading, especially when it comes to unpublished products running unfinished software. But it is always interesting to compare the first results of these Galaxy Note 10 prototypes with the final scores of the best Android phones on the market.
Unsurprisingly, the SM-N976V model takes advantage of its higher memory count and the Snapdragon 855 processor to outperform the SM-N976B in multicore performance. At the same time, the 10,840 points accumulated by the note 10 of 12 GB of RAM are enough to distance the some 10,600 totals of the Galaxy S10 and S10 + which currently appear at the top of the Geekbench Android charts.
Curiously, the SM-N976B manages to defeat the SM-N976V with a single power, both variants being overshadowed by the entire S10 family. This is probably due to a lack of optimization of this particular scenario in these Galaxy Note 10 pre-release units, which makes us look forward to higher multicore results from commercial devices that should be released in the fall.
Maybe Note 10 will even end up being faster (on paper) than iPhone XS and XS Max, although we do not rely on that, as Apple's latest and best handsets are consistently rated well at above the level of 11,000 points.
