Over the last three years, Samsung's market share in China has declined significantly, while local competitors such as Xiaomi and Huawei have continued to grow. But thanks to the release of the Galaxy S10 in March, the South Korean giant finally seems to gain ground.

Samsung's market share is at its highest level since the first quarter of 2018

According to data published by market research firm Strategy Analytics (via Pulse News), Samsung sold a million smartphones in China between January and March. This may not sound like much, but the company's market share has been raised to 1.1% for the quarter, making it the first time Samsung has held more than 1% of the Chinese market since the first quarter of 2018.

The engine of this growth is the Galaxy S10 series. According to reports, the latest flagship products in China generate sales between 120% and 130% higher than those of the Galaxy S9 range, which should bode well for the future of Samsung.
Last year, the company received a first sales boost from the Galaxy S9. However, during the second quarter, consumers quickly lost interest and Samsung's market share dropped to 0.8% overall. Things did not improve during the third and fourth quarters of the year. In fact, Galaxy Note 9 had no impact on Samsung's sales and, overall, its market share fell to 0.7%.

In contrast, this year, sales of the Galaxy S10 appear relatively stable and should not fall sharply from so early. In addition, the South Korean giant has also invested heavily in its class A vehicles, the Galaxy A, which is expected to boost growth for the rest of the year.

As mentioned earlier, the Galaxy A series is extremely important for Samsung this year. Although the company did not officially confirm it, the new devices would have been designed for Chinese and Indian consumers. After all, in the former, Samsung wants to generate growth, while in the latter, the company hopes to stay ahead of its rival Xiaomi.

With regard to China, Samsung has recently announced its intention to launch the Galaxy A40, Galaxy A60, Galaxy A70 and Galaxy A80 on the market soon. Until now, the latest Galaxy A brand devices have been well received internationally and it seems like China is no different.

While Samsung remains competitive for the rest of the year, it remains to be seen how its market share will behave. But with the expected arrival of the Galaxy Note 10 series in August, the South Korean giant will probably benefit from a further increase in sales.

Unlike previous years, when the Galaxy Note range included only one smartphone, this year Samsung was preparing up to three separate models. These include a classic Galaxy Note 10, slightly smaller than the existing Galaxy Note 9, and a more powerful Galaxy Note 10 Pro, aimed at users looking for the best smartphone.

Speaking of the best experience, consumers living in areas with 5G networks should be able to benefit from a third model, the Galaxy Note 10 Pro 5G. As the name suggests, this release should borrow many of the features of Note 10 Pro and support 5G networks.
