Galaxy Watch 2021 to debut out of model with Android

[ad_1]

Samsung is making some of our favorite smartwatches to pair with an Android smartphone, and irrelevant, we might get another Galaxy Watch for 2021. In a sense, too, it might be running Android at its core.

According to a report by GalaxyclubSamsung has two new smartwatch models in the works for 2021, both of which carry model numbers that imply they will be the successors to the Galaxy Watch and Galaxy Watch 3 rather than Samsung’s Galaxy Watch Active line. The model numbers in question are SM-R86x and SM-R87x, with the previous Galaxy Watch 3 having SM-R8xx model numbers on its various models.

Most likely, the two model numbers we see so far are just different sizes of the watch, with the final number indicating the difference between Bluetooth and LTE models.

However, it is not normal for Samsung to release another Galaxy Watch in 2021. Going back, the original Galaxy Watch was replaced the following year with the two Galaxy Watch Active models (the first having an extremely long lifespan. short), and the following year the Galaxy Watch 3. It’s reasonable to think that a Watch Active would arrive in 2021, but the evidence so far suggests otherwise.

Another important puzzle piece in this story comes from Ice universe. Samsung leaker says that for its Galaxy Watch 2021, Samsung will ditch the internal Tizen operating system it has been using for a few years in exchange for Google’s Android – note: It did do not says Wear OS.

Why would Samsung opt for Android on its smartwatches on Tizen? With Wear OS despised by critics and generally praised Tizen watches, this seems like a bad decision. However, moving to Android would have some advantages. On the one hand, the catalog of apps and watch faces on Wear OS is far superior to that of Samsung, and the same is true for security, as Tizen has been in hot water for its multiple security flaws. times in the past. Notably also, this is not the first time that Samsung has abandoned Tizen on its portable devices.

All of that remains to be seen, but Samsung will likely launch its Galaxy Watch 2021 later this year alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and all the other devices the company has up its sleeve.
