NASHVILLE, Tennessee – Nashville broke a 139-year-old record Saturday for the most precipitation in the February story.
Although the total is likely increasing, the region recorded 12.55 inches of precipitation for the month, beating the previous record of 12.37 inches in 1880 for the month of February.
Continuing rainfall and severe storms have led the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency to declare a state of emergency. The rivers of Tennessee have become areas of action or almost, including the Cumberland River, which has reached its highest peak since the floods of 2010. The river has swelled to 38 feet on Saturday.
Here is an overview (see above) of residents' impacts on Middle Tennessee.
