“ Game of Thrones ” animated drama series in the works at HBO Max – Deadline

An animated version of The iron Throne can be directed to HBO Max. Streamer WarnerMedia launches the tires on a potential animated drama series in the world of The iron Throne, sources confirm by deadline. The idea is considered very early and exploratory, and there is no concept or creative team on board. A representative for HBO Max did not comment.

The animated prospect joins several new Had projects that float at HBO as the network aims to have several Had-universal shows on air, with new shows joining prequel Dragon House, which has direct drive in series and is expected to debut in 2022.

Last week Deadline reported on one of those GoT prequel projects, a serial adaptation of George RR Martin. Dunk & Egg Tales novellas, which is in very early development on the premium network with no editor yet attached. The series would follow the adventures of Dunk (Ser Duncan the Great) and Egg (the future King Aegon V. Taregaryen), some 90 years before the events of Martin. A song of ice and firesources familiar with the project told Deadline.

Dragon house was the second The iron Throne prequel to receive a green light, following a project written by Jane Goldman, which went to pilot with Naomi Watts, but was not repeated in the series. They were part of half a dozen different prequel projects developed at HBO. With the exception of Dragon house, the others of this batch did not advance. News of a potential animated series was first reported by THR.
