HBO has suspended filming of its “Game of Thrones” prequel “House of the Dragon” due to a positive COVID-19 case on set, Variety confirmed.

As part of testing carried out for all production employees, one production member of the series has tested positive for COVID-19. In accordance with industry guidelines, the production member is isolated and close contacts should be quarantined. Production will resume on Wednesday after a two-day hiatus.

This is the third filming affected by COVID in the UK in recent days. Netflix’s “Bridgerton” halted filming after one positive case, resumed, and paused again after another case. The streamer’s “Matilda” also stopped for the same reason. Riverside Studios in London have canceled the revival of Terence Rattigan’s play “The Browning Version”, starring Kenneth Branagh, due to COVID-imposed cast absence during rehearsals.

The breaks come as the UK fully reopens on Monday, so-called ‘Freedom Day’. Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak both self-isolate after being questioned by the National Health Service’s track and trace app because they were in the vicinity of a person infected with the virus. Health Secretary Sajid Javid revealed he had tested positive and had mild symptoms.
