Game of Thrones season 8, episode 3: who died and who lived

The third episode of Game of thronesThe eighth season, "The Long Night", promised an epic battle that yielded the following results: The Battle of Winterfell was an intense battle and, of course, not everyone was able to come out alive.

Here is the list of all those who did and those who did not – starting with those who fell in battle.

Who died: some fighters – but not as much as you feared

The Battle of Winterfell was dramatic and bloody, but it did not eliminate as many of our favorite characters as we feared. Here are those who did not survive.

The king of the night

This one can be surprising given how indestructible Game of thronesZombie at the head of ice seemed at many times throughout the show. But in "The Long Night", it's proved extremely easy to master for the accomplished assassin Arya Stark. At the height of the episode and the most exciting moment, the character commonly described as a death walker discovered that he was not the only god of death in the room.

Melisandre

Surprise! The red witch arrived at the moment the battle began to bring crucial help to the team Living – and after the dust settled, she chose to end her abnormally prolonged life. We saw in season six that Melisandre was actually much older than she appeared and that her power of immortality seemed to be contained in the mysterious red amulet that she wore around her neck. After the Battle of Winterfell, having the impression that his work was over and no doubt still feeling very guilty of Shireen Baratheon's death, Melisandre calmly headed for the plain of the battle, removed the amulet and swayed this deadly winding.

Theon Greyjoy

In a death that did not surprise anyone, Theon, who was responsible for protecting Bran in the divine wood, sacrificed himself nobly by charging the King of the Night to his defense. But Bran first told him that he was "a good man", so he died in peace.

Lyanna Mormont

The little lady Lyanna died in the classic style of a provocative child – taking out a giant giant zombie ice cream. She then came back sadly (but dramatically!) Briefly as an ice zombie.

Ser Jorah Mormont

Ser Jorah is surely dead realizing his most cherished fantasy: protecting his queen and the love of his life, Daenerys Targaryen, against a horde of assistants. In turn, she cried a lot about him in his last moments. Well done, buddy.

Lord Beric Dondarrion

After enjoying some enjoyable reunions before the battle, Beric, who once ran the Brotherhood without banners and was on the list of Arya's murders, had fought alongside Arya and Arya. Dog until the bitter end, ending up sacrificing himself to save Arya from a band of wights.

Edd Tollett a.k.a Dolor Edd

The former commander of Night's Watch remained loyal to his brothers, even at the height of the fighting, rescuing Samwell Tarly from a wight and only becoming himself a few seconds later, at the first farewell to a familiar character.

Viserion

The former Dany's favorite armory, Viserion, was killed and then revived last season as an undead ice dragon. But despite setting up a cool shot (pun intended), he bit it when Arya's dagger turned King Night into splinters.

Virtually all Dothraki and countless Unsullied

Because the hordes of Dothraki were on the front line of the battle, they were all wiped out. The Unsullied were then online. Although most of the main characters (including Gray Worm) remained unscathed, for the unnamed color characters, "The Long Night" was a gigantic bloodbath, compounded by the large number of characters who played a crucial role in the path of Daenerys to the Iron. The throne seemed to be completely disposable at the end.

Who is alive: all the others!

HBO

A surprisingly large number of characters survived this episode, ranging from secondary characters that many fans had totally written off as Gray Worm to almost everyone in the Winterfell crypts – even though there had been a brief uprising as well from Dead.

Here is the list of the happiest characters who survived the battle:

Jon Snow

Although he was pleasantly useless during most of the fight and had several extremely close calls, Jon was still living to see another episode.

Daenerys Targaryen

Despite his terribly confusing battle plan and his liquidation, separated from his dragon and fighting for his life amid a crowd of coats of arms, Dany survived through the bravery and sacrifice of his pal Ser Jorah.

Jaime Lannister

By fighting bravely alongside Brienne, Jaime was finally fine.

Brienne of Tarth

Jaime and Brienne had some close calls during the battle, but when the ice army collapsed, they were still standing.

Arya Stark

Game of thrones'Arya Underfoot has proven to be the key to the fight – and she will live to tell the story.

Bran Stark

Although he took at random half an hour to follow the king of the night for no apparent reason, Bran returned to himself just in time to watch Theon die, greet the king of the night – then watch Arya Ice the king of the night, for real. Kid has never even sweated.

Sansa Stark

Although Sansa originally wanted to be at the center of the fighting, Arya ordered him to go hide in the crypts – the safest place for her, despite the fact that the Dead were rising there too.

Tyrion Lannister

Tyrion was also in the crypts, where he spent some enjoyable moments building bonds with Sansa on the uselessness of the battle – and if he was willing to die protecting others, in the end he (thank God! ) was not obliged.

The dog

If you were one of the many Game of thrones Fans whose most cherished wish during the Battle of Winterfell was to see Hound and Arya save each other's lives and fight together like old friends before the two went away in one piece, this episode is delivered . Although the dog panicked and almost gave up at one point, watching Arya fight with all his might encouraged him to go back into the fray. Well done, Ser Sandor.

Gendry

We hardly saw Gendry fight, but after what we saw, the guy can fend for himself. It seems that he came out of the battle with a scratch.

Davos Seaworth

Davos was another character who barely could see any action. He was standing as the ice melted.

Samwell Tarly

Sam came a long way and, despite his obvious terror, he continued to fight bravely throughout the battle. Fortunately for him, he also fought close to several other much stronger soldiers, including Edd and Jorah, who saved his head and then lost theirs.

Gilly

Gilly and his son were waiting with the others in the crypt and were safe.

Gray worm and Missandei

These two lovebirds both survived – Gray Worm managed to stay safe above ground while Missandei pulled him into the crypts.

The tiny and provocative line of bread from the previous episode

We know you were wondering. yes, the pretty girl who said she defended the crypts is also very good – although she found herself covered with blood, she is unscathed.

Drogon and Rhaegal (the last two Dany dragons)

Drogon suffered a terrible attack from the wights during the battle and withdrew to literally shake a group of wights and perhaps heal his wounds. But he did not seem to be as well injured, and he was fit enough to fly, so we call him safe until we see evidence to the contrary. Rhaegal seemed to come out totally unscathed.

Ghost (the werewolf of Jon)

Ghost made his appearance in the first scenes of the episode, attacking alongside the Dothraki. But he then apparently joined Jorah and some of the other runners who came back. We are almost sure to see him again.
