First period
ET 1, Miami 0 – Collin Adams (Jordan Kawaguchi, Jacob Bernard-Docker): 14. UND gets the good start he’s looking for, scoring just 14 seconds into the game. Bernard-Docker made a formidable chip pass from his own zone to Kawaguchi on the offensive blue line. Miami defenseman Derek Daschke was caught on the ice and Kawaguchi started a two-on-one race with Adams. Kawaguchi managed the pass and Adams made a nice backhand movement to finish his 10th goal of the season. That’s a key goal as UND starts the weekend 17-0-0 by scoring the first.
ET 2, Miami 0 – Louis Jamernik (Mark Senden, Gavin Hain) 5:27 am UND fights for the puck in the corner and it emerges at the bottom of the right circle, where Jamernik shoots one into the net which passes through Miami goalkeeper Ludvig Persson . This is what Persson will want to come back to. For Jamernik, this is his first college goal.
ET 3, Miami 0 – Collin Adams (Jordan Kawaguchi, Ethan Frisch) 5:36 am UND scores again nine seconds later. Frisch sends an ice pass that Kawaguchi flips into the area. Adams runs Gilling to the puck as defenseman Alec Capstick is caught by the ice. Adams wins the race, skates towards the net on a mini two-on-one and tries to pass it to Bendan Budy, but his pass hits RedHawk defender Hampus Rydqvist and goes into the net.
ET 3, Miami 1 – Phil Knies (Casey Gilling, Rourke Russell) 11:14 a.m. Miami picks one up from a beautiful Gilling coin along the back wall. The senior captain takes possession below the goal line, creates a passing lane and sends the puck to Knies in the right circle. Knies hits him for his third goal of the season.
ET 4, Miami 1 – Riese Gaber (Jordan Kawaguchi, Collin Adams) 2:24 p.m. Moments after the expiration of UND’s first power play, Kawaguchi makes a formidable play to set up Gaber, who ends his 12-goal drought. Kawaguchi skates the puck in the zone, backs and forths with Adams, pulls defenders towards him in the corner, then crosses to a wide open Gaber inside the right circle. Gaber’s first attempt is blocked by Russell, but he buries his second attempt. It was his first goal since Jan. 11 at Colorado College and his very first goal at Ralph Engelstad Arena.
Second period
ET 5, Miami 1 – Jacob Bernard-Docker (Jake Sanderson, Collin Adams) 9:50 a.m. Sanderson uses his speed to skate around the area, then leaves a pass for Bernard-Docker on point. The defender crushes Persson, who is not tracked on the game. This is the third of the season for Bernard-Docker.
ET 5, Miami 2 – Rourke Russell (Joe Cassetti) 5:02 p.m. Russell sends a point shot to the net as UND goaltender Adam Scheel tries to send his tackle around the corner, but he doesn’t get it all and the puck jumps in the air and lands behind his right leg. Scheel then accidentally hits him across the goal line.
Third period
ET 6, Miami 2 – Brendan Budy (Collin Adams, Jordan Kawaguchi) 5:10 am Adams steals the puck from Miami defenseman Alec Mahalak and hands it to Kawaguchi in space. Kawaguchi hands it back to Adams, who appears to hit the post, but Budy follows him and scores. This is the fifth point of the game for Adams, scoring the first five-point game by an UND player since Mark MacMillan on Oct. 18, 2014 at Colorado College. This is the fourth point for Kawaguchi.

Notes before the game
As expected, Grant Mismash has re-released for UND. He misses his sixth consecutive game due to an injury. He hasn’t played since Feb. 12 against Denver. . . UND juggled the lines lightly, moving Brendan Budy to Mismash’s place on the top line and bringing Jordan Kawaguchi back to the right wing, where he played most of his college career. This move reunites Riese Gaber (who has scored three goals in two games against Miami) with Shane Pinto and Judd Caulfield. . . Cooper Moore is the additional skater. . . The goalie match is fully NCHC first team goalkeeper Adam Scheel against fully NCHC second team goalkeeper Ludvig Persson. . . This is the first playoff game between the teams since March 21, 2014, when an eighth-seeded Miami team beat a second-seeded UND team in the NCHC semi-finals.
