announced on Wednesday that it has hired Matt Francis in the newly created role of chief technology officer, effective Feb. 15. Francis was most recently an Engineering Leader at Amazon.com Inc.’s AMZN,
Amazon Web Services cloud company. The stock of the video game and consumer electronics retailer, which was recently the poster child of the apparent short push caused by users of the Reddit Wall Street Bets forum, rebounded 25.0% in the trade before marketing. The stock had fallen 72.3% in the past two days, but still soared 677.9% in the past three days through Tuesday, while the S&P 500 SPX,
edged up 13.6%. GameStop also announced that Kelli Durkin, most recently at Chewy Inc. CHWY,
was hired as senior vice president of customer service. The company also hired Josh Krueger as vice president of execution; Kruger previously held executive positions at Amazon.com Inc. AMZN,
and Walmart Inc. WMT,
