Fincher's father, Jack Fincher, wrote the script.

Gary Oldman and David Fincher team up to tell the story of Herman Mankiewicz, the newspaper man turned scriptwriter, known for his collaboration with Orson Welles on Citizen Kane.

Mank, the nickname of Mankiewicz, is installed in Netflix. Fincher actually makes his next feature film, with plans for filming this fall. Oldman will play the screenwriter who has had a disproportionate influence in the golden age of Hollywood.

Keeping the classic Hollywood ambience, the movie will be in black and white.

Get Mank Before the video cameras no longer represent a journey of more than 20 years for Fincher, who first wanted to approach the story after having directed his 1997 feature film The game. Fincher's father, Jack Fincher, also a journalist, wrote the screenplay.

Cean Chaffin, Fincher's long-time cohort, who has been working on the filmmaker's films since Thu, product. Doug Urbanski, also an Oscar nominee for The darkest hour.

Mankiewicz was a journalist and critic in the 1920s, as well as a member of Algonquin's famous literary club, the Algonquin Round Table. In the late 1920s, however, he was recruited by Paramount to come to Hollywood and work in the film industry in transition. He even persuaded other journalists to join the ranks of the writers, writing to Ben Hecht: "Millions of people must be seized here and your only competitor is an idiot."

Mankiewicz has worked on many now classic films such as Wizard of Oz, pride of the Yankees and Gentlemen prefer blondes but that was Kane this provoked the controversy that continued until his death. Mankiewicz and Welles both worked on the screenplay, but Mankiewicz accused the filmmaker of trying to make him forget, even claiming that Welles had offered to pay him back in exchange for a single credit.

Mankiewicz's supporters (many, whom Welles alienated as much as he attracted) applauded and chanted "Mank, Mank, Mank" when Kane won the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay, all two receiving the trophy ceremony).

Mank will be Fincher's first film since 2014 Missing girl. The filmmaker was to have a sequel to World War z but budget issues have marginalized this project. It is taken over by Donen Productions.

For Oldman, playing the combative and hard-drinking Mankiewicz could be another chance for an Oscar. The actor won for his interpretation of Sir Winston Churchill in Darkest hour. Oldman next stars in The laundromat, the drama directed by Steven Soderbergh and starring Meryl Streep. It is taken over by the APA.
