Adam gas has become a polarizing figure during his time as head coach of the Jets, to put it mildly. His tenure has been nothing short of a disaster as New York has finished 2-14 this year, and the media and fans alike are united in their dislike for him. That being said, that might not be enough to hurt Gase’s representative in league circles, and it looks like he might have some opportunities ahead of him. Even before Bill Belichick recently sang his praises before Week 17, Ben Volin of the Boston Globe writes that he had heard Gase’s name linked to the Patriots.
Volin thinks Gase would make sense as Patriots new quarterback coach with Jedd Fisch take on the head coach job in Arizona, or potentially the new CO if Josh mcdaniels left. As he points out, there are some legitimate links here. Gase and McDaniels both got their first coaching positions as student assistants on Nick Saban’s Michigan State staff member in 1999. Then Gase was McDaniels receivers coach when McDaniels became head coach of the Broncos. Gase being the coach of the Dolphins before landing the Jets job, he has spent the last few years facing Belichick twice a year in the AFC East. This rental would definitely raise a lot of eyebrows if that happens.

Moss had to be hauled off the field, so the fact that he’s not 100% finished for the playoffs might actually be a positive. Utah’s third round rookie split into the backfield with Devin Singletary all season, and had seven runs and four catches against Indy before going down. Singletary will now be the star in the future. Moss finished his rookie season with 112 carries for 481 yards and four touchdowns in 13 games. It’s certainly not ideal, but Buffalo’s chances in the Super Bowl will always depend. - Ace of special teams Matthew slater has had a career rich in Patriots, but that could come to an end. Slater is not sure he will play in 2021 and will take some time to retire, according to ProFootballTalk.com’s Josh Alper. “I’m at a point in my career where I don’t know how much football I have left and I think as a young man I was always thinking about next season, the career you hope to haveSlater said. “Now obviously I’m on the bottom nine. If so, he will hang up his crampons after an extremely decorated career. Slater has won three Super Bowls with New England, made nine Pro Bowls and seven All-Pro teams. It would also represent the end of an era, as the team captain is one of the few other than Belichick of the Old Guard Patriots.
- Regarding the Jets, they will have the most pivotal offseason of any team in the division. The first thing to do is decide what to do Sam darnold, and in turn the second overall choice, as we have already heard, they will exchange one of them. There’s sure to be a lot of speculation leading up to the draft, and ESPN draft analyst Todd McShay says he thinks New York will move on by taking on a new quarterback, via ESPN.com’s Rich Cimini. “I know [Jets GM] Joe Douglas. I obviously played with him in college. We have a good relationship,McShay said. “I know he grew up in the Ozzie Newsome organization with the Ravens. If it won’t be Trevor Lawrence, it will be a drop, if possible. Otherwise, let’s protect [Darnold] and introduce the guys to the player who we think can be our franchise. As for Douglas, he praised Darnold at his year-end press conference, but didn’t want to make a long-term commitment to him. This is just one of many data points, but right now it looks like Darnold has a good chance of being under center in 2021.
