Gasol joins Bucks after Spurs takeover

The San Antonio Spurs and Pau Gasol center have agreed to a buyout deal, opening the way for six alliances to join the Milwaukee Bucks, sources close to the league told ESPN.

Players must be withdrawn before 11:59 pm ET Friday to be available for activation in the playoffs. Milwaukee is currently leading the Eastern Conference with a 47-14 record.

This opens the way for the Gasol brothers to participate in the conference championship. Marc Gasol joined the Toronto Raptors (45-17) under a contract expiring.

Pau Gasol, 38, has seen his role diminish with the Spurs this season, in part because of the absence of 26 games with a fractured foot fatigue.

He was guaranteed $ 6.7 million from his $ 16 million salary in 2019-20. He's making $ 16 million this season.

Gasol averages career low points of 4.2 points and 4.7 rebounds in 12.2 minutes per game. He averaged 17.1 points and 9.2 rebounds in his 18-year career in the NBA, including two championships with the Los Angeles Lakers.
