Gayle King’s daughter Kirby Bumpus marries for ‘perfect’ wedding at Oprah Winfrey’s estate in Montecito
His daughter Kirby Bumpus got married in December.
But it wasn’t until Monday that Gayle King broke the news on CBS This Morning and in an interview with Oprah Winfrey magazine.
And it was King’s best friend, Oprah, who hosted the nuptials that have been cut back due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Kirby, 32, married her fiance Virgil Miller in the multi-million dollar estate of her godmother Oprah in Montecito, just outside of Santa Barbara, California.
The couple got engaged in February 2019.
“Kirby is really so happy, and nothing beats when your kids are happy,” King, 66, told Oprah Magazine.

The ceremony was chaired by Kirby’s brother Will Bumpus and attended by Oprah’s partner Steadman Graham and a professional photographer who took photos for the occasion.
King shares Kirby and Will with her ex-husband William Bumpus, whom she divorced in 1993
“ No one knows Kirby like his brother does, so for him doing the ceremony was meant to be, ” King explained.
“It wasn’t the wedding we had planned, but it was absolutely perfect,” she noted.

Photos from the ceremony were taken by photographer Joe Pugliese who was at Oprah’s mansion for a photoshoot that was canceled at the last minute and found himself playing wedding photographer.
“Joe doesn’t normally do a wedding … so we were lucky and had a professional photographer who went through all of the pandemic protocols. I’m so glad we have these memories, because the photos are stunning.” , she told the magazine.
She shared some of the happy day’s photos on her Instagram.
In the accompanying caption, she added: ‘Anyone have any tips for being a good mother-in-law ?? I am all ears and I take notes!
