Gboard looks very hot on Android 12

Get ready for us to talk about it a lot this application or this application receiving its “Material You update” because as the launch of Android 12 approaches, Google will continue to prepare its main applications with theme makeovers to match their new design language. It’s kind of like how we couldn’t shut up about dark themes in apps for a good few years, which is (thankfully) not something we worry about anymore.

An example of this type of story is this one, or the story you read, where we take a look at Gboard and Google’s rollout started with a theme change. The Gboard material you update is here!

A number of reddit users today noticed that their Gboard apps now have additional rounded bits, as well as new colors that they weren’t expecting. What we see is that Gboard adopts not only a new look, but also the system accent color which is taken from the wallpapers.

Gboard Android 12

Many have suggested that they are in the beta of Gboard and this is how they get it. I’m also in the beta of Gboard and certainly don’t see this action. F * cking server side deployments.

How will you know if you have the new Gboard if you head over to the Gboard settings you will see a “Dynamic Color” choice in the Theme section. Being dynamic allows it to adopt the colors that your wallpaper has provided to the system. If you don’t like this look, you can always manually force it back to a standard theme.

Anyone see this? What does it look like ?
