A fully virtual version of the annual game developers conference will kick off on July 19, but organizers say next year the event will be live again. GDC 2022 “will return as a physical conference at the Moscone Center in San Francisco,” organizers said, with the conference taking place March 21-25.
While not a major public event, GDC has long been an important week for the gaming industry, with professionals from all over the world coming together in one place. (Sometimes platforms like Stadia are even advertised there.) The 2020 edition was one of the first large-scale gaming events to be put on hold due to the pandemic, and although this year’s GDC was due having an item in person, it eventually switched to a completely virtual format.
For those who have signed up, GDC 2021 runs July 19-23, with a few notable talks and presentations, including the latest tech demo of Epic Games’ UE5 game engine.
