Unexpected but perfectly welcomed
Gears 5 officially arrives on September 10 on Xbox One and Windows 10. We already knew this since the E3. However, one persistent question mark was the launch of the Steam version. It is reasonable to think that Microsoft could give itself an exclusive competitive advantage by appearing first on its own platforms.
This will not be the case. In the context of gunscom information dump, Microsoft revealed that Gears 5 happens day after day to Steam with the Xbox One and Windows 10 versions. Aditionally, Gears 5 is available for pre-order on Steam now. (In fact, Steam currently shows the release date as September 9th instead of September 10th.)
It was really in the air too. Until recently, the Gears 5 The Steam page said "Expected Release Date: Soon." But these fears are appeased as Microsoft continues to treat Steam users with renewed consideration.
