"Gears Of War 5" is beautiful, nothing else on Xbox One or PS4 can compete

I was gone all last weekend so I could not enjoy my three days of early access with Ultimate Xbox Game Pass, but I finally got into the Gears of War 5 campaign for a bit.

Something feels different with this gears release that with Gears 4 back in 2016. It looked like a game that was … good, but mostly under the radar and was almost absent from most of the top ten end-of-year lists. Gears 5? We think this could make the 2019 cut, even if it's just a ticking over Metacritic. This may not be God of the war-the reimagination level of the show or whatever, but it will have more impact for many, including myself.

Over time, I am less and less impressed by the visual of video games. It's not that they are bad. On the contrary, they are all just so good at this point, they get confused. All games are expected to look great now, so when something happens and looks pretty dated (coughing, coughing) Fall), it's a bit shocking.

I can only think of a handful of really "wow" moments relating to the visual elements in video games from the previous generation of consoles. God of the war and Uncharted 4 both had this effect on me on PS4 Pro, especially the lost pirate city of UC4, which is one of the most beautiful video game environments possible. already created. But for the Xbox One? It's only happened once, and that's what I see now in Gears of War 5.

The game is beautiful. I do not have the complete breakdown at the digital foundry on Why It's so breathtaking, apart from the obvious numbers, like running at 60 FPS in 4K, which is a monumental feat on this console day, even on the mighty Xbox One X.

He succeeds in doing Gears of War 5 to feel like a new generation title even before the next generation arrives here. This is a bit of the current situation with "intermediate" consoles like the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X, because these half generations have opened the door to a host of visual improvements and gameplay. But not all games benefit from it. In this case, however, we have the impression Gears 5 take full advantage of the power of the Xbox One X, which is much more powerful than the PS4 Pro, and you can see it in all scenes of the game, even from the first moments when go down into an apparently designed waterfall chasm to immediately show the beauty of the game.

I get flashbacks all the way to Gears of War 1 on the Xbox 360, another game that pushed the limits of the visuals on the consoles and that made me lose my jaw when I first played it. All the following gears the games looked good, including Gears 4, I guess, but none of them felt that way. And so far, I have really seen only three main places, towards the end of the second act.

For the rest? We will see. I like the story up to now and the emphasis on exploration and parallel missions, which is unusual for this series. I'm still not a fan of gearsfight-fighting style because he never stopped feeling too awkward for me, but this ship sailed and enough people make like it where it is clear that it will never change. So it's just me.

But yes, this game is just a treat to try, no matter how it plays, because of its appearance and its operation, and it's a praise that I will almost never put on a game more than once by generation, count out. Gears 5 deserved it.
