Genovation's Corvette-based Electric GXE beats its own speed record

It sounds like a Corvette, but it's nothing like a regular Corvette. This is the Genovation GXE, which boasts 800 horsepower and even comes with a manual transmission. The company behind the car would like us to know that it has also broken its own maximum speed record.

In fact, this 100% electric and legal supercomputer, operating on the street, reached 210.2 mph at the Johnny Bohmer test grounds in Merritt Island, Florida. That's better than the previous precedent, the same electric supercar registered in 2017, when it was 209 mph. The specific record is the fastest electric car in the world in terms of street laws.

Genovation said the GXE would do it when it released its latest model in 2018, still below 210 mph. The company said that it could reach 220 mph. Nevertheless, the record is impressive. What's more interesting is that Genovation says you have to break new records. Does the company already have eyes fixed on another disc? This seems more than likely.

All the power that has driven the car to the world record comes from five batteries powering two electric motors. As mentioned, Genovation will even be leaving customers with GM's seven-speed manual. Otherwise, the eight-speed automatic transmission is the transmission of choice. Multiple speeds are said to help accelerate quickly and maintain momentum at higher speeds.
