George Clooney is one of Hollywood’s biggest stars, but he apparently had to work to convince at least one person: his wife’s father. Alamuddin wasn’t thrilled with Amal getting involved with one of Hollywood’s most eligible singles, so he boldly wrote down a list of reasons why she should stay away from him.

George shared the story on SiriusXM The Howard Stern Show Friday, and the actor had a good sense of humor about the whole situation. “She gets a letter from her father saying, ‘I’m going to give you 10 reasons why it’s a bad idea to date this guy’… which were basically our wedding vows,” he laughs.

It’s unclear what made the list (if only we knew!) Or how the star convinced Amal’s father, but George gave details of how he wooed his future wife. After being introduced by friends at Lake Como, Italy, George revealed that his relationship with Amal started out only as a friendship, where they exchanged letters. He was worried that she thought he was too old for her. “I liked him, but I didn’t want to jump on him. I’m 17 years older than her, so she would have thought I was a grandfather, ”he told Stern.

After all that romantic letter written, George invited her to Abbey Road Studios in London while he was scoring a movie with a full orchestra. He then ate and dined with her that evening and they both realized they were more than just pen pals. “We went out to dinner and it quickly became romantic,” he explained. “It became clear once I knew she was interested. From that moment we were together.

Even though her future stepfather was aware of the relationship, few people knew the couple were dating. They decided to keep their privacy a secret for as long as they could – and George explained why. “We had to go into hiding for a few months because you just want to be sure – you want to get to know each other and spend time together and not do it on the front page of Hello magazine, ”he says.

Their fairy tale now includes twins Ella and Alexander, 3, who keep him busy during his forties – and he now understands what his mother felt like raising children without a babysitter or technology to help him.

“I always say I felt like my mother in 1964 because she had two children and no help,” he said. CBS Sunday morning. “I don’t know she did it now, I have more sympathy for her than ever.

Maybe his stepdad can get involved in activities to keep the kids busy – we know he’s good at making lists for his family.
