George Floyd murder trial jurors showed police footage

Jurors at the murder trial of former Minneapolis cop Derek Chauvin saw dramatic footage of George Floyd’s death from body cameras worn by officers at the scene – with the exception of Chauvin’s.

The camera worn on Chauvin’s body fell to the ground shortly after arriving at Chicago Avenue and East 38th Street on May 25, moments after joining the brawl with a handcuffed Floyd, videos released in court on Wednesday. Hennepin County District.

Disturbing footage of the three other officers since dismissed – Thomas Lane, J. Alexander Keung and Tou Thao – shows Floyd pleading with cops not to put him in a police SUV after being arrested for passing a fake $ 20 bill to the Cup Foods grocery store.

“Why is this happening?” Floyd said. “Why do you do this to me?”

“I’ll roll the windows down,” Lane replies.

But Floyd continues to plead with Lane and Keung – and continues to brawl when Chauvin and Thao arrive on the scene and join in the fray.

“I’m not a bad guy,” Floyd says. “Dang, man. I’m not that kind of guy.

Floyd is then seen handcuffed and pinned to the ground, Chauvin’s knee resting on his neck for nearly nine minutes – and kept him pinned even after paramedics arrived and saw Floyd’s pulse.

At one point during the fight, one of the agents is seen on Keung’s body camera footage grabbing Floyd’s wrist and appears to be saying, “I don’t have a pulse.

At another point, one of the officers is heard suggesting, “Roll him on his side?”

Two of the bodycam videos – the one worn by Lane and the one worn by Thao – were released by authorities last year.

Chauvin is on trial for second degree murder, third degree murder and second degree manslaughter in the case, and could face up to 40 years in prison if convicted.

The other three officers are to be tried for aiding and abetting second degree murder and second degree manslaughter at a later date.

Earlier today, Hennepin County District Judge Peter Cahill suspended proceedings when one of the jurors fell temporarily ill.

Prosecutors also first released surveillance footage from inside the Cup Foods convenience store, showing Floyd using a fake $ 20 bill to buy cigarettes.
