Mike McDaniel’s promotion to the 49ers ‘offensive coordinator has already excited two of the 49ers’ best players from last season.
McDaniel replaces Mike LaFleur, who joins the staff of former 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh with the New York Jets as the offensive coordinator.
McDaniel, 37, was the 49ers’ run-game coordinator last season and has worked with the organization since Kyle Shanahan took over as head coach in 2017.

With Saleh’s departure, inside linebacker coach DeMeco Ryans was promoted to defensive coordinator, which 49ers star linebacker Fred Warner seemed delighted on Twitter.
Ryans also joined the 49ers in 2017, starting his coaching career in the Bay Area as a defensive quality control coach.
The 49ers have failed to meet the huge expectations set for 2020 after a Super Bowl run, as injuries plagued the roster at nearly every position.
McDaniel and Ryans will have their work cut out for them in an extremely competitive NFC West, but they clearly already have respect in the 49ers’ locker room.
