How could you, Ser Barristan !?

Tired? George R.R. Martin does not have pages. Wired? George R.R. Martin has all pages.

The long and extremely long wait for the next chapter of Martin's vast series A song of ice and fire The series may have worsened recently with the advent of Game of thrones"The last season is happening … some places. But it was even stranger than usual – years of waiting will do the same for a ASOIAF fan – this week, thanks to a really crazy rumor from an equally absurd source: Ser Barristan Selmy, one of the most honorable knights of all Seven Kingdoms.

Well, not Selmy More precisely, but Ian McElhinney, who played the former Kingsguard turned to Daenerys Targaryen's right arm (shot, err, cadaver) during the first five seasons of Game of thrones. Speaking to Epic Con in Russia late last month, McElhinney launched a strange bomb that seemed to come out of nowhere, claiming that not only Martin had already finished Winter Winds, the long-awaited sixth book in the ASOIAF series, but he also finished his sequel, a dream of spring, which is supposed to be the last chapter of the saga.

According to McElhinney, who discussed Selmy's modified role in the series compared to books, the books were not published because Martin entered into a secret pact with HBO. his version of the end of the story after Game of thrones came to a conclusion. If this were true, it would mean an imminent drop in surprise, given that we are about to attend the last end of the show this Sunday:

George has already written books 6 and 7 and, for him, there are only seven books. But he has reached an agreement with David and Dan, the organizers of the series, that he will not publish the last two books before the end of the series. So, if all goes well, we may have books 6 and 7 in a month or two, and I'm intrigued to know how Barristan, for example, ends up browsing these last two books. George, I talked to him during season 1 and he said that Barristan had a very interesting course. But unfortunately, I could not play all that, so we'll have to wait and see.

McElhinney's occasional bomb remained invisible for a few weeks, but when she began to be found online yesterday, Martin stepped in via her humble home on the Internet, the Not A Blog, to dispel the complaint:

Suddenly this crazy story of my finish Winter Winds and a dream of spring there are years popping up everywhere. No, I will not provide links. I do not want to reward vendors with misinformation by hits.

I will say for the record – no, Winter Winds and a dream of spring are not finished. Dream it's not even started; I will not start writing volume seven before I finish volume six.

It seems absurd to me to say it. The world is round, the Earth revolves around the sun, the water is wet … should I also say it? It's beyond me that anyone would believe this story, even for a moment. It does not make sense. Why should I sit for years on finished novels? Why would my publishers – not just here in the US, but around the world – agree? They earn millions and millions of dollars each time a new Ice Fire book comes out, just like me. Delay does not make sense. Why would HBO want books to be delayed? The books help to create an interest in the show, just as the show arouses interest in the books.

So there you have it. A frenzy of swirling rumor later, and all we have is what we already know for a long time – the answer is that Martin actually some pages, and will continue to add to this number as he gets closer to the end of his epic story.

Well, this and we now know that Barristan Selmy may not be enough the most honorable man of the seven kingdoms.
