The long and extremely long wait for the next chapter of Martin's vast series A song of ice and fire The series may have worsened recently with the advent of Game of thrones"The last season is happening … some places. But it was even stranger than usual – years of waiting will do the same for a ASOIAF fan – this week, thanks to a really crazy rumor from an equally absurd source: Ser Barristan Selmy, one of the most honorable knights of all Seven Kingdoms.
Well, not Selmy More precisely, but Ian McElhinney, who played the former Kingsguard turned to Daenerys Targaryen's right arm (shot, err, cadaver) during the first five seasons of Game of thrones. Speaking to Epic Con in Russia late last month, McElhinney launched a strange bomb that seemed to come out of nowhere, claiming that not only Martin had already finished Winter Winds, the long-awaited sixth book in the ASOIAF series, but he also finished his sequel, a dream of spring, which is supposed to be the last chapter of the saga.
According to McElhinney, who discussed Selmy's modified role in the series compared to books, the books were not published because Martin entered into a secret pact with HBO. his version of the end of the story after Game of thrones came to a conclusion. If this were true, it would mean an imminent drop in surprise, given that we are about to attend the last end of the show this Sunday:
George has already written books 6 and 7 and, for him, there are only seven books. It's beyond me that anyone would believe this story, even for a moment. It does not make sense. Why should I sit for years on finished novels? Why would my publishers – not just here in the US, but around the world – agree? They earn millions and millions of dollars each time a new Ice Fire book comes out, just like me. Delay does not make sense. Why would HBO want books to be delayed? The books help to create an interest in the show, just as the show arouses interest in the books.
So there you have it. A frenzy of swirling rumor later, and all we have is what we already know for a long time – the answer is that Martin actually some pages, and will continue to add to this number as he gets closer to the end of his epic story.
