George R. R. Martin confirmed that there would be some changes and additions to the end of his A Song of Ice and Fire series compared to HBO's Game of Thrones.
In a Rolling Stone article focused on GoT actresses Maisie Williams and Sophie Turner, Martin explained how the creators of the series, David Benioff and DB Weiss, had to fend off with history after the last two seasons began to go beyond his writings.
"I have been so slow with these books," Martin said. "The main points of the end will be the things I told them five or six years ago. But there can also be changes, and there will be a lot to add. "
Martin's words suggest that the general ending of Game of Thrones will be similar to what he planned for his latest novel in the A Dream of Spring series. However, as has been the case throughout the show, there will be significant differences between the two.
Martin recently said that the last season of Game of Thrones could present "significant differences" in his next books. He made it clear that there are "a lot of minor characters". [arcs] they will come with themselves. "
