George R.R. Martin's next project is a FromSoftware game, confirms the report

Rumors about an association between George RR Martin and FromSoftware have been in the air for a while and now, a massive leak on Bandai Namco's website just before E3 2019 revealed details of the upcoming project called Elden Ring, as reported by Gematsu.

The details indicate that the game will come on PS4, Xbox One and PC, suggesting a short-term launch schedule before the arrival of a new generation of consoles. It will be a fantastic action-RPG game set in a world created by Hidetaka Miyazaki, creator of Dark Souls, and George R.R. Martin, author of the television series A song of Ice and Fire and Game of Thrones.

Beyond these details, little other information has been revealed, but the description of the game mentions that "danger and discovery are hidden at every corner of FromSoftware's biggest game to date".

Game of Thrones meets Dark Souls

Previous rumors had suggested that the game we now know to be calling Elden Ring be officially announced on Sunday during Microsoft's presentation on E3 2019. So we can find out more on Sunday at 1 pm PST, 4 pm EST and 9 pm BST.

The team between FromSoftware and George R.R. Martin makes a lot of sense for fans of the Dark Souls and A Song of Ice and Fire series. Both have a ruthless level of brutality, and that's what makes them so compelling for many.

In FromSoftware games, you are often faced with certain death. And in the stories of George R.R. Martin, no character is safe, even the most loved. While the Dark Souls series, Bloodbourne, and the new Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice games took place in dark worlds, the collaboration with George R.R. Martin could spell a more vibrant and colorful world. And, since it will be the largest game from FromSoftware to date, it will likely be a substantial open world.

Stay tuned for all our reports on E3 2019 to know the latest news on Elden Ring and other major titles.
