Georgia’s football game in Missouri on Saturday was postponed due to a combination of positive testing, contact tracing and the subsequent quarantine of individuals under the Missouri program, the SEC said on Wednesday morning. .

As Missouri has a game tentatively scheduled for Dec. 12, the advisability of postponing Georgia’s game at Missouri “will have to be assessed,” the press release said. Posting games on the SEC’s remaining football schedule may include December 19 as a play date.
A spokesperson for a Missouri school told ESPN there was no outbreak; instead, the soccer program tested positive on Sunday which led to subsequent contact tracing of individuals within a specific position group, dropping it below the number of players needed for that position. .
The 14 SEC athletic directors agreed on Tuesday that the conference should use Dec. 19 as a makeup date for all teams that have postponed games and are not playing in the SEC title game that day, a Arkansas athletic director Hunter Yurachek told ESPN. SEC presidents and chancellors are expected to consider the recommendation on Thursday at their previously scheduled meeting.
It has been a tumultuous week of COVID-19-related disruption for the SEC, which also this week announced changes for three more games originally slated for Saturday.
