LOS ANGELES – A friend of Georgia Engel, the actress who was part of "The Mary Tyler Moore Show," claims that she died at the age of 70.

John Quilty, who was also his executor, said Engel had died Friday in Princeton, New Jersey. The cause of death was not known because she was a Christian scientist and had not seen a doctor, Quilty said Monday.

Engel was best known for her role as Georgette with the charming and innocent voice in "The Mary Tyler Moore Show".

Engel also had recurring roles in "Everybody Loves Raymond" and "Hot in Cleveland". She has received two Emmy nominations for the Moore show and three more for "Everybody Loves Raymond".

Last year, she participated in an episode of the Netflix series "One day at a time".

She has also appeared on stage in such plays as Broadway's "The Drowsy Chaperone".
