Georgia lawyer charged with murder after golf ball dispute, says DA

An Atlanta attorney has been indicted for the murder of a man who could have hit his Mercedes Benz with a golf ball, the prosecutor's office announced.

Bryan Schmitt, 48, has been indicted by a grand jury for murder, murder and aggravated assault, in the death of Hamid Jahangard, 60, Fulton County Attorney Attorney Paul L. Howard, announced Friday. Schmitt reportedly hit Jahangard, a prominent real estate investor, in the alley of a rental property belonging to the victim.

"Jahangard was hit by the vehicle and died two days later as a result of head trauma," said the attorney general in a statement. "The fatal encounter occurred when Jahangard accidentally hit Schmitt's Mercedes vehicle with a golf ball."

According to the police, a golf ball was found near the stage, but the car was not damaged, according to the Constitution. Schmitt was arrested on August 12 and was not released, according to Fulton County Prison Records.
