Georgia QB Carson Beck likely starting against UAB due to JT Daniels injury: Source

Alternate quarterbacks Carson Beck or Stetson Bennett IV are likely to start for Georgia against UAB, barring a late change of mind among Georgian coaches, a source close to the team confirmed to Athleticism. The team’s best quarterback, JT Daniels, suffers from an oblique injury, and while it is mild, the idea is that he might need a little more rest before Georgia starts his SEC schedule.

Beck QB’s personal trainer Denny Thompson told Jacksonville radio station AM-1010 on Friday morning that Beck is likely to get the go-ahead, but a source said Athleticism later on Friday, things were heading for Bennett to start.

After Georgia face UAB, the defending United States Conference champion, they will host South Carolina on September 18 in the first of eight consecutive SEC games.

Daniels could still dress and play, and maybe even get started if on Saturday morning the feeling is he’s good to go. He trained on Wednesday, splitting his time with Beck, who would play his first college game.
