David Shafer, chairman of the Republican Party of Georgia, took to Twitter on Monday to suggest that election officials in Fulton’s country attempted to pull a quick one on election night.
Shafer said county election officials told “the media and our observers that they are shutting down the tabulation center at the State Farm Arena at 10:30 p.m. on election night to continue counting the ballots in secret until 1:00 am ”.
He continued, “No one disputes that Fulton County election officials falsely announced that the counting of the ballots would end at 10:30 pm.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Monday that state election officials found no evidence of wrongdoing. The newspaper report says there have been cases of “minor problems” caused by human error.
Richard Barron, the chief electoral officer for Fulton County, told the Journal-Constitution that he sent nearly all of his employees home around 10:30 p.m. on election night. The newspaper said GOP watchers “thought everything was done for the night.” But a handful of counters stayed until 1 a.m., along with a state observer, to count the votes. Barron told the newspaper the GOP was invited to watch.
Shafer said the media “criticized you” when they claimed there was no evidence of “election irregularities.”
ALL EYES ON GEORGIA SENATE RUNOFF
President Trump has shown a keen interest in Peach State and appealed to Rep. Doug Collins, R-Ga., Who retweeted Shafer’s post, to lead a recount effort. Collins said he was confident about “poorly-collected ballots and other irregularities that will prove” Trump won the state.
Fulton County on Saturday began reviewing some votes counted for the first time on Friday. County officials said they noticed some ballots were not counted or scanned correctly. County spokeswoman Jessica Corbitt said workers were re-analyzing the batch of ballots in question and would repost the results later.

Shafer and Raffensperger did not immediately respond to Fox News requests.
The Trump 2020 campaign and the Republican Party of Georgia filed a lawsuit in the state on Wednesday, alleging that officials in a Democratic-leaning county were counting the ballots for the presidential race received after the polls closed. Tuesday.
