Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger on Thursday called for the removal of two Fulton County officials.

Raffensperger said Fulton County Chief Electoral Officer Rick Barron and Chief Registrar Ralph Jones should be fired and fired immediately.

“The continued failures of Fulton County have gone on long enough without any liability. Rick Barron and Ralph Jones, Fulton’s registrar, are to be immediately fired and removed from their leadership roles in Fulton’s election. The voters of Fulton and the Georgian people deserve better ”, Raffensperger tweeted.

Raffensperger’s tweet comes after reports that election officials in Fulton County initially scanned around 200 ballots twice before a recount in last fall’s presidential election, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution .

After the election, Georgia was the subject of election controversy, and the Trump campaign as well as Republicans ordered audits of election results. Three audits took place, but there was no evidence of widespread electoral fraud.

The Journal-Constitution noted that the 200 ballots scanned twice did not appear to have a significant impact on the certified final count.
