On Friday evening, President Donald Trump tweeted that the upcoming Georgia Senate run-off was “both illegal and invalid.”

Hours later, Trump vowed to “rally” the two Republican candidates – the senses. Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue – and told Georgians to “prepare to vote on Tuesday”.

In the initial three-part Twitter thread alleging fraud, Trump claimed Tuesday’s vote would be illegitimate due to one of the state’s legal regulations.

“Georgia’s consent decree is unconstitutional and therefore the 2020 state presidential election is both illegal and invalid, and that would include the two ongoing senatorial elections,” the president wrote.

The consent decree, a bipartisan agreement signed in March, established standards for verifying signatures on postal ballots. Legal attempts to prove that this decree is unconstitutional have all failed.

Other court challenges to overturn the election results, such as L. Lin Wood and Sidney Powell’s attempt to decertify Georgia’s results, were also dismissed.

Although Trump wrongly dismissed Tuesday’s two rounds of the Senate as illegitimate, he has always urged his supporters to vote.

The election will directly affect the start of Joe Biden’s presidency. If Jon Ossoff and Rev. Raphael Warnock win, the Democratic Party will control the legislative and executive powers, making it easier for Biden to accomplish his legislative goals.

Trump will speak at a rally in Dalton on Monday. Vice President Mike Pence will speak to Milner later in the afternoon.

The race is close and both parties have spent extraordinary amounts of money to help secure a majority in the Senate.

Since polling day, Georgia Senate candidates and outside groups have spent $ 480 million on advertising, according to AdImpact. It is now the most expensive Senate race of all time.

Democrats have a slight but growing lead, according to a recent poll.

More than 3 million people have already voted in the Senate second round on January 5, according to ABC News.
