Georgia Attorney’s Office Takes Extraordinary Jan. 2 Phone Call Between Trump and Raffensperger “Regarding Potential Case” Seriously As It Evaluates Whether To Prosecute Criminal Charges Of Election Fraud Against Former President , said a source close to the office.
Fulton County’s new district attorney, Fani Willis, is expected to make some sort of announcement on the matter “somehow” this month, the source said.
CNN previously reported that Willis said in a statement that she would apply the law “without fear” and that her office was assessing whether to pursue possible criminal action against Trump.
“Once the investigation is completed, this matter, like all matters, will be handled by our office on the basis of the facts and the law,” Willis said at the time.
David Worley, the only Democrat in Georgia’s five-member Electoral Council, told CNN in a statement: “I have requested that the Secretary of State open an investigation, now that that has been done I have wait until we get the report before requesting further action. ”
This is a breaking story and will be updated.
