The German Olympic team left the field in a test match against Honduras after Jordan Torunarigha was allegedly subjected to racist abuse.
The news was confirmed by the German team’s Twitter account in a tweet which read: “The match ended 5 minutes earlier with a score of 1-1. The German players left the field after Jordan Torunarigha was the victim of racist abuse. “

The Honduran Football Federation said on their Twitter page: “The match ended in the 87th [minute] due to a retirement due to a German player alleging a racist insult from a member of the Honduran team. In this regard, the Honduran Football Association says it was a misunderstanding on the pitch. “
German coach Stefan Kuntz said: “When one of our players is racially abused, continuing to play is not an option.”

The closed-door warm-up match was organized in preparation for the Olympics and took place in Wakayama, Japan.
The German Football Association confirmed the game was played in a 30-minute third, with Douglas Martinez scoring for Honduras in the 21st minute.
Felix Uduokhai equalized for Germany in the 84th minute, but Germany left the field soon after.
Torunarigha, 23, is a defender who plays for Hertha Berlin in the German Bundesliga. He has represented Germany in all age groups, from under 16 to under 21.
Germany will start their Olympic campaign against Brazil on July 22 before playing against Saudi Arabia and Côte d’Ivoire in Group D.
