A week ago, the young man allegedly beat the kippah of an Israeli professor at the Hofgarten. He allegedly pushed the man, was reportedly beaten and, among other things, called "No Jew in Germany". The 20-year-old man was already known to the police for violent and drug-related offenses and was apparently under the influence of drugs at the time of the crime. Due to mental abnormalities, he was admitted by the police to a specialized clinic, from where he was released the following day. The investigating authorities then released him for lack of reasons for detention.

On Wednesday night, the police arrested the young man in the Hofgarten with several people. During the conflict, he had pulled out a knife, the others had threatened and declared after the statements of the witness: "I could kill you all". One person even held the knife in his head. But no one was hurt. The man then took a tram.

After a manhunt, the man, apparently under the influence of drugs, was arrested by the police. As part of the ongoing investigation, the Criminal Investigations Department is also investigating whether the man has committed other violent offenses.
