The main fireworks display of the Cologne Cathedral and the Old Town was detonated on the Rhine aboard two 120 meter long ships. Along the Rhine, there were also more fireworks.
Organizer Werner Nolden gave the starting signal for the show's master program: "Everything is operational, everything is fine," said Nolden. And immediately appealed to the many visitors: "Take care of yourself, so we have a good evening."
The pedestrian walkways, railways and surrounding restaurants were already crowded in the early evening. As a result, spectators had to be patient for the best places.
