The main fireworks display of the Cologne Cathedral and the Old Town was detonated on the Rhine aboard two 120 meter long ships. Along the Rhine, there were also more fireworks.
Organizer Werner Nolden gave the starting signal for the show's master program: "Everything is operational, everything is fine," said Nolden. And immediately appealed to the many visitors: "Take care of yourself, so we have a good evening."
The pedestrian walkways, railways and surrounding restaurants were already crowded in the early evening. As a result, spectators had to be patient for the best places.

And this year, the athletes of the conditioning company in Bonn won. In second place came the eighth of the RWTH Aachen. The athletes were warmly applauded by the thousands of people on both sides of the Rhine. What a setting!

Since there are only three exits in the Rheinpark, guests were invited to linger after Fireworks and listen to the subsequent program at Tanzbrunnen. In the meantime, the exit door had to be closed because too many mbades wanted to go at the same time.
"Incredible mbades are moving," reported Elena Sebening's reporter after the fireworks. Cologne Central Station is only accessible from the cathedral side. "It always goes in waves, so not too many people travel at the same time." Traffic was regulated by loudspeakers. "Despite the overcrowding, everything was totally peaceful and the atmosphere was good," said our reporter.
