But the Germans drink so much that breweries lack crates and bottles of beer! That's why the industry is now calling for a return to empty boxes and bottles before going on vacation.
Although brewers expect more beer to be drunk in the summer, the exceptionally early and sustainable summer weather gives them a stroke made by the bill. Niklas Other, editor-in-chief of Inside magazine, said the unusually long heat season had upset the brewery's calculations.
"It's a drama on the scale of the sector," said Other. Some brewers could not fill some varieties anymore. The most affected are the beverage distributors, who complain about the lack of investment breweries in the purchase of beverage cases.
The German Brewers Association also reported a "particularly pronounced" vacuum shortage this year. Spokesman Marc-Oliver Huhnholz said bottlenecks could occur again and again during the summer months.
