The two packages sent to Obama and Clinton were "intercepted" on Tuesday and Wednesday by the Secretary of the Secret Service before reaching their intended recipients, the authority said. But there was no risk that shipments containing "potential explosives" could reach their intended recipients.
According to this information, the two packages were included in the routine control of shipments to recipients under the responsibility of the secret service.
Investigators said Clinton's package resembled the explosive letter found Monday at the American residence of billionaire and philanthropist George Soros. Soros had supported the 2016 presidential campaign against Donald Trump, who had defeated Hillary Clinton.

A second package had been sent to Obama and intercepted in Washington. In the meantime, a thorough investigation has been opened to determine the sender of the parcels, it was said.
After a similar discovery, the Time Warner building in New York also had to be evacuated, including the American TV channel CNN. At a Wednesday morning broadcast, a security alarm was triggered in CNN's studio.
Shortly after, the whole building was cleaned. CNN reported that the expulsion was due to the discovery of a suspicious package. New York police called on Twitter to avoid the area around the building. Further details were not known at the beginning.
The White House condemned the alleged attacks. "These acts of terrorism are hateful," spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Wednesday.
