The United States is mourning the victims of the attack on a synagogue in Pittsburgh. On the day of the first funeral, President Trump goes to the city to express his sympathy. It is not everyone who welcomes it.

WASHINGTON, Pittsburgh (AP) – Three days after the devastating killing of Jewish worshipers in a Pittsburgh synagogue, the first victims were buried.

Many mourners participated in services for the first three of the eleven deaths, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported. US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump visited Tuesday afternoon the synagogue "Tree of Life", which attacked a right-wing extremist on Saturday. During his controversial visit to Pittsburgh, the president did not speak publicly.

According to the New York Times, about 1,000 protesters gathered near the synagogue to protest Trump's visit. The protesters' slogans included slogans such as "Vote Hate". Critics accuse Trump of fueling tensions and violence, such as those in Pittsburgh, whose speech intensified before the congressional elections on November 6. Trump, in turn, blamed the media for growing tensions.

Before going to Pittsburgh, Trump had told Fox News that he wanted to pay tribute to his visit. Trump also wanted to visit the wounded at the hospital, including the wounded police officers during the attack. White House spokeswoman Sarah Senders said Donald and Melania Trump wanted to express their support for the American people and mourn those of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Melania Trump laid white roses on memorial stones for the dead. Journalists in the presidential procession reported that Trump was accompanied by the first lady and her daughter Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner. Finance Minister Steve Mnuchin and Israel's Ambbadador to the United States Ron Dermer also arrived at the synagogue.

In his interview with Fox News, Trump reiterated his criticism of the media, which he said propagated "Fake News". Trump means media that make critical reports about him and that he calls "enemies of the people". Criticizing his recently released nationalism openly, the US president rejected it. "I'm proud of this country and that's what I call nationalism," he said. "I do not see any other badociation in it."

On Saturday, a 46-year-old right-wing extremist shot and killed eleven people aged 50 to 97 in the Tree of Life synagogue. According to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, it is the most important antisemitic crime in the history of the United States. The alleged killer is accused of 29 crimes, including 11 murders. According to Justice Secretary Jeff Sessions, he faces the death penalty.

Before the synagogue attack, another man had sent many trapped letters to Trump's critics. He was arrested the day before the attack. Both incidents moved the country – just days before the big congressional elections.
