For about 21 kilometers, a drunk ghost driver rolls on a highway. Again and again, there are dangerous situations. Now, there are consequences for the 47-year-old.
Griesheim – A drunk truck driver drove on a highway to Hesse for almost 20 minutes Saturday as a ghost driver. A judge ordered the 47-year-old man's pre-trial detention, the police said.
The man had driven his trailer in the wrong direction on Route 67 near Griesheim, Hesse. He was on the fast track, changed to the intersection of Darmstadt on the A5 and continued to accelerate.
The material damage is about 50 000 euros
Time and again, we have encountered dangerous situations with oncoming vehicles. A car squeezed on the side of the truck. The 32 year old woman driving and the man next to her were slightly injured. They came to the hospital. Several cars rolled on elongated debris. According to the police, the damage would be about 50 000 €.
The driver of the truck did not care about the accident nor the blue lights and sirens of the police cars that accompanied him. It was only after a phantom race of about 21 kilometers that the man stopped his trailer and went out. The 47 year old was arrested.
The police then found two bottles of whiskey in the driver's cabin – one empty and the other half empty. The man would have a blood alcohol value of 1.48 per thousand.
