In her eulogy, Queen Rania Merkel named among others a fighter and a bridge builder. She praised her commitment to refugees and pointed out that it had brought great recognition to Germany around the world.
Merkel, for her part, praised the achievements of Jordan, which has hosted a large number of refugees, mainly Syrian but also Iraqi. This should make more tribute to Europe, said the Chancellor.
Merkel also hailed the fact that the VDZ also posthumously honored the murdered Maltese journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia and the murdered Slovak journalist Ján Kuciak with the "Golden Victoria 2018".
