On Tuesday morning, the trial for a 70-year-old male homicide in the Heilbronn District Court began. The prosecution suspects long periods of separation.

The case made headlines nationwide: a 70-year-old woman allegedly killed a seven-year-old girl at her home in Künzels in late April. According to the prosecution, she strangled the boy. Then she put him in a bathtub filled with water.

Visits since elementary school are likely to become rarer

In court, the "Pflegeoma" wanted to comment on the charges, not even their CV, writes the German press agency (dpa). She used to see the boy almost every day, says the prosecutor. Since he was in primary school, visits have become rarer. Presumably, she could not stand the long periods of separation and decided to kill the boy.

The charge against Kindersitterin is manslaughter. Before the Heilbronn Jury Tribunal, a process initially involving nine days of trial was commenced.

The father discovered the body of the seven-year-old

The father of the child had discovered the body a day later, in the bathtub of the accused. The family had entrusted him with the son for years; she and the boy understood each other well, said the family.

The nurse had disappeared without a trace shortly after the incident – she had probably been hidden on Kocherufer. When she returned, she was arrested.

Respondent silent on allegations

Since then, the defendant is in detention. She is silent up here on the allegations. It is also unclear whether the defense will make a statement in court. The accused was very attacked by the events he was called by the defense.

As there are no murderous traits such as treason or greed, the charge is manslaughter, according to Attorney General Heilbronn. The court wants to hear 33 witnesses and three experts by the end of January.
