(Motorsport-Total.com) – Former world champion Kimi Raikkonen sits for the first time in over 17 years driving a Sauber Team Formula 1 car. The Finn will test the Pirelli tires in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday in preparation for the 2019 season with his new team that will meet with car and engineers. This is the first time since 2001 that Raikkonen was driving a car from Hinwil.

On the way is Raikkonen with the current C37. On a Sauber combination, he has – probably for contractual reasons, since it's up to December 31, the Ferrari factory driver – to give up and hatch instead in a combination of neutral race. Even his usual helmet does not wear, but a model painted completely black, as it is known from his Lotus era.

In addition to Räikkönen in Sauber, Abu Dhabi has other constellations in its debut, which will form a racing team in 2019. Williams relies on George Russell and McLaren on Lando Norris. New test driver Pietro Fittipaldi makes his debut at Haas. Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes), Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari), Max Verstappen (Red Bull), Sergio Perez (Force India) and Nico Hulkenberg (Renault) are familiar faces – as well as Toro Rosso's established tester, Sean Gelael.

On Wednesday, there will be another taste of the upcoming season, with Pierre Gasly (Red Bull), Antonio Giovinazzi (Sauber) and Carlos Sainz (McLaren) taking three drivers recently replaced. The new driver of Toro Rosso, Alexander Albon, does not come on the train.
