The family was fast asleep as the smoke spread through the house. Only one felt the fire: the domestic cat – and the alarm rang on time.
A domestic cat rescued a mother and her two children in Calw in Baden-Württemberg from a fire. Police said the animal woke the 35-year-old Monday night with an unusual meowing. As a result, the woman smelled smoke from a smoldering fire that had already spread into the stairwell of the old restaurant.
Firefighters saved the family and extinguished the fire, which was still in its infancy. The reason for the fire was probably a forgotten candle, which had ignited a painter's fleece on a table and caused a strong smoke.
