With a 5-1 (3-1) win against Benfica, FC Bayern have already qualified early for the round of 16 in the fifth round of the Champions League group stage. For Munich coach Niko Kovac, it was an indispensable success. After the draw against the club's president in Düsseldorf, Uli Hoeneß announced "to rethink everything". The position of the coach is weakened to nine points of the leader Borussia Dortmund in the league.
In order to qualify as the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 winners, Munich will need a draw in Amsterdam on the final day of the Group Stage match on December 12th at 9pm. The round of the last sixteen will take place from February 12, 2019.
