Bastian Schweinsteiger continues his career in Chicago.

The 2014 world champion announced Wednesday night on Twitter that he would play in the MLS 2019 season with Chicago Fire.

"Dear Chicago Fire fans, I am very pleased to announce that our journey continues and I look forward to seeing you all again in Chicago."

Schweinsteiger wants to become champion

The club has also reported the personality on its home page. "Let's get a trophy, I believe in the club and the fact that we can become champions," Schweinsteiger was quoted as saying.

The adventure in the United States was "very special" for him and his family. "I like to be part of Chicago Fire," said the 34-year-old. Bayern was also pleased with this decision. "Our god of football is far from having enough, and we can not wait to see you on the ground again," is the Twitter account of the German record champion.

Schweinsteiger shines as a model supplier

In two seasons in the heat, Schweinsteiger made 55 missions, including 53 in the starting eleventh. The former star of Bayern has scored seven goals and twelve badists. His 77 chances were better in the team.

Over the past season, Schweinsteiger has been Chicago's top scorer with six badists. Schweinsteiger has been under contract with Fire since March 2017. "Basti embodies our club, the typical Fire player and the Chicago spirit in many ways: hardworking, smart, enthusiastic, talented and world-clbad," said the President and CEO Nelson Rodriguez: "His return illustrates our efforts to become a championship program develop – on and off the field."

In his MLS debut, Schweinsteiger had reached the playoffs from the start. By 2018, however, Chicago had missed the playoffs with Schweinsteiger. After that, it was initially unclear whether Schweinsteiger, who is by far the first player in his club with the equivalent of 4.93 million euros, will stay in Chicago.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Los Angeles Galaxy) had an early season end and Wayne Rooney dropped out with Washington in the first round.

In early October, Schweinsteiger was honored as a "sports icon". He received the Komische Oper prize in front of some 850 guests for his outstanding sports achievements.
