As said Marc Neunkirchen, deputy press secretary of the Königswinter fire department, the exact accident is currently unknown. From a previously unexplained cause, the previous truck slowed down, causing the rear collision with the three trucks that followed on the same track.
The rearmost vehicle tried to dodge right on the shoulder hard, but could not avoid a collision. The taxi was completely destroyed. The driver did not survive the accident and was found dead by the emergency services. His pbadenger was transported to the hospital slightly injured, as well as two previous truck drivers, only the driver of the first truck remained without injuries.
